Biography

Dr. Baynosa is an assistant professor of plastic surgery and associate program director for the plastic surgery integrated training program at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas. He is also chief of plastic surgery at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Dr. Baynosa is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Baynosa’s practice features comprehensive plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He specializes in advanced aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery including DIEP and perforator flaps.

He is one of a select number of plastic surgeons in Las Vegas offering microsurgical breast reconstruction with the patient’s own tissue. Dr. Baynosa trained at the University Hospital of Ghent in Belgium with one of the originators of the DIEP flap technique and complete a fellowship with world-renowned Dr. Phillip Blondeel.

Dr. Baynosa’s experience in Belgium has allowed him to be at the forefront in Las Vegas with the use of form-stable silicone implants, or “gummy bear” implants, in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Although only recently approved in the US, this type of implant has been used for decades in Europe. He has used these state-of-the-art implants for breast augmentation and tissue-expander based breast reconstruction.

He is one of a select number of plastic surgeons in Las Vegas offering direct to implant breast reconstruction with form-stable implants and no need for tissue expansion.

Dr. Baynosa has a special interest in aesthetic and reconstructive body contouring surgery, including post-bariatric surgery and mommy makeovers.

He has co-authored a book chapter on circumferential abdominoplasty and thigh lift in the Encyclopedia of Body Sculpting after Massive Weight Loss.

He performs complex reconstructive surgery, including abdominal wall reconstruction with the separation of components technique, as well as lower limb salvage with the use of local flaps or free tissue transfer.He treats burn victims not only after the initial burn injury, but also in the reconstructive phase for functional and aesthetic deficits.

 

He is the recipient of several awards and grants for basic science research in plastic surgery, as well as exemplary service and clinical excellence.
